Most relational conflict isn’t what it appears to be about. Beneath each argument there is usually an unmet need, an unheard fear or an unrecognised bid for connection. Skill building so you can listen to what is actually being said.

Unlocking the mysteries of the human condition is a wild, meandering and fascinating journey. How well we relate to and communicate with others across all contexts in life is absolutely fundamental to achieving optimal health and wellness. It’s not only our romantic partnerships that require our careful attention. Our relationships with family members, friends and colleagues can be just as complex and as important to our overall success, wellness and happiness. Establishing an understanding of attachment styles, learning to be more reflective and also more intentional in relationship with others, practising open respectful communication where individual needs and truths can be expressed with clarity and safety, and setting thoughtful and considered boundaries, are all areas of personal development that can be worked on through counselling and coaching. Making links between the nature of workplace dynamics, family connections and intimate relationships with all other aspects of our health, is paramount to endeavouring to improve well-being holistically. Supporting clients to strengthen connections and create meaningful and fulfilling relationships by design, rather than simply by default, involves understanding that each relationship has it’s own unique ecosystem with it’s own language, it’s own wounds and it’s own strength and vulnerabilities.
As with my individual therapy services, my practice is integrative, meaning I tailor my approach to meet my client’s individual needs. Sessions can be psychodynamic but also draw heavily on Attachment Theory and incorporate nervous system work. I am trained in the Gottman Method.

This work can be done individually or with partners.
Changing Family Arrangements
Working with families to plan for and support children with separation, divorce and new blended family arrangements is work I have a great deal of experience and interest in. Supporting parents working towards harmonious resolutions and creative problem solving during times of stress and change, that lead to healthy adjustments, is a passion of mine. Moving away from acrimony towards amicability and hopefully a new way of loving and living as a family.
Perinatal and Postnatal Parenting Support
Many years of working with children, adolescents and parents within an attachment framework has helped grow my understanding of just how much of how we develop as humans, how we conduct ourselves in relationships, and how we see ourselves in the world, is shaped by our early developing experiences and relationships with care givers.
The perinatal and postnatal period is such a special yet fragile and ultimately supremely important time for both the developing baby and mother/care givers. Science supports that not only is brain structure change occurring throughout these early infant and childhood experiences, but so too are patterns of emotional responses within relationships developing. Major and often rapidly fluctuating physical and emotional shifts occur during this time of metamorphosis for new mothers and their partners also.
The science and culture relating to preparing for and nurturing a new life can be overwhelming for many. Decisions about birthing, feeding, sleeping and understanding the early synergistic relationship between baby and mother, require thoughtful filtering in a world saturated with information and strong opinion on the topic. Curating individualised support that gently cradles this period of transition is a special interest.
As a registered COSP facilitator, I offer a personalised Circle Of Security Group program to support parents and care givers in better understanding their child’s emotional world and needs, whilst honouring their own inner intelligence and desire to respond in a manner that enhances self esteem and provides security for their little person. This is a research informed early intervention program, considered internationally by many, as the gold standard of attachment based parenting courses. Whether you are an expectant first time parent, in the trenches with a toddler or already at school, this course definitely has something to offer. Grandparents or other key care givers also welcome.
It is also possible to incorporate this program into individual and family work.
Five pillars anchoring my practice
Holistic
You are not a diagnosis, a symptom or one chapter of your history. You are a whole person - with a body that carries memory, a nervous system shaped by experience, realtionships that have left their mark and a life that exists in rich complexity, well beyond confines of these sessions. This work honours all of you.
Integrative
No single modality holds the full truth of any person. Drawing on an extensive therapeutic toolbox, this work moves fluidly between frameworks and across protocols in service of what you actually need. My practice is agile and flexible, rather than being prescriptive.
Innovative
Good clinical work is not static. It draws on existing and emerging research, evolving understanding of the interconnectedness of mind and body, and respect for each unique human experience. My practice offer a genuine willingness to work in ways that fall outside the conventional therapeutic frame, when it is safe and when it serves best.
Dynamic
Sessions are responsive, rather than scripted. What you bring shapes what happens. The work moves with you, through the difficult terrain, the unexpected turns, the moments of insight and the ones that resist resolution. Nothing here is pre-determined. Anything is possible.
Personalised
Bio-individuality is not just a concept- it’s a commitment. Your history, your nervous system, your values, and the particular shape of what you carry and what you are reaching toward are the starting point. There is no generic map. We build one together, and it belongs entirely to you.
